Calis

Calis is a charming and friendly little resort that is typical of the warm reception that awaits you in Turkey. Calis is famous for its long crescent beach and for its Loggerhead Turtles. Calis has some of the most spectacular sunsets in the Mediterranean.

There is plenty of choice amongst the bars and restaurants lining the seafront. You will find basic clothing and gift shops, supermarkets, snack bars and clubs. There is also a water-park with slides and splash pools.

Fethiye

The vibrant and bustling harbour town of Fethiye is very close to Calis. It takes fifteen minutes by bus to arrive into the centre of town from Calis. Set on a wide bay, strewn with many islands, Fethiye has a lovely marina area.

The ancient name of the city is Telmessos and you will see a fortress on the hill overlooking the city that was built by the Knight of Rhodes. Fethiye is known for its rock tombs carved into the faces of its cliffs by the Lycians. These are elaborately carved and an especially remarkable; one is the tomb of Amnytas dating back to the 4th century BC built in Doric style and is worth well visiting. Other historical Places in the city are the Sarcopaghi and the Fethiye Tower.

Sovalye Island (Knight Island) is a real the destination for those who like to enjoy the sea. Belcegiz Bay is also good for such a visit and provides natural mountain scenery. The bay forms the dreamlike Belcegiz — Oludeniz (‘Blue Lagoon‘) known as «the paradise that God granted Earth». It has 3 km of natural beach and crystal blue waters in enchanting surroundings. Some of the other natural attractions are Katranci Bay, Gunluk (Kusuk Kargi) Bay, Oyuktepe, Gocek with its harbor and marina. Lately, paragliding from Babadag (mountain) is one of the most popular sports providing magnificent views as one is flying over the ‘Blue Lagoon‘.

Around Fethiye, there are many ancient towns and villages of the Lycians. To the southeast of Fethiye lies Xanthos at Kinik village, an important capital for the Lycians. It‘s setting is naturally adorned. Letoon, by Kumluova village and close to Xanthos, is also interesting. Letoon was a cultural center during the Lycian period and remains can be seen of temples dedicated to Leto, Artemis and Apollo. Patara by Ovagelmis, Pinara by Minare, Tlos by Doger, Cadianda by Yesil Uzumlu, Sidyma by Dodurga, Karmilassos by Kaya, Pydnai by Kavadere, Araxe by Oren, Lydoe by Kapıdag, Lissa and Arsada by Kayadibi, and Daedela by Inlice are other significant sites to visit in and around of Fethiye.
